AIR MUSHROOM IN AVOCADO

Report on Solutions and Proposals for Avocado Crops Affected by Aerial Fungi

Introduction

Avocado cultivation faces several challenges, including the presence of the so-called "aerial fungus." This report aims to present effective proposals and solutions for managing this problem in avocado cultivation, based on current evidence and recommendations.

Problem Description

Airborne fungus is a disease caused by fungal pathogens of the Botryosphaeriaceae family. They can penetrate through wounds, directly through natural openings in leaves, or through sunburn. These spores infect the tree, and although symptoms may take a while to appear, they are opportunistic pathogens.

Symptoms

  • They begin at the ends of branches, drying flower panicles and terminal leaves.
  • They progress downwards with vascular bundles becoming reddish and finally necrotic.
  • Trees are most susceptible to stress from poor irrigation, waterlogging, nutrient deficiencies, strong winds, frost damage, and colonization during flowering.

Current Measures

There is no specific fungicide, so measures focus on preventing and reducing inoculation in the environment.

Proposals and Solutions

Root canal

1. Manvert LETBIO

  • Dosage : 5 L/Ha every 20-30 days throughout the cycle or 2.5 L/Ha every 10-15 days.
  • Benefits :
    1. SAR activator for antifungal protein production and protection.
    2. Improves the overall vigor of the plant.
    3. Strengthens internal defenses, reducing root rot.

2. Manvert LIBEROXI

  • Dosage : 5 Kg/Ha, 5-10 days before flowering.
  • Benefits :
    1. Corrects root asphyxia and reduces anaerobic zones.
    2. Unlocks nutrient assimilation.
    3. Reduces favorable conditions for inoculum and optimizes the root system.

Foliar Route

3. Manvert MICONIC + Manvert ZnB-TRACKER

  • Dosage : 1 L/Ha + 2.5-3 L/Ha, just before flowering.
  • Benefits :
    1. Corrects Zn deficiency for flowering.
    2. Drying and disinfecting actions that prevent the entry of fungi.

4. Manvert MICONIC + Manvert ECO-Cu

  • Dosage : 2 L/Ha + 2.5 L/Ha, after clearing, pruning and harvesting.
  • Benefits :
    1. Drying, disinfecting and healing properties to prevent infections.
    2. Reduces the risk and exposure to inoculum after cultivation activities.

Conclusion

Implementing these preventive and corrective practices can result in more effective management of the "aerial fungus" problem in avocados. The combined use of the recommended products not only improves plant resistance but also optimizes soil and root system conditions, significantly contributing to crop health and productivity.

This report is intended to serve as a practical guide for avocado growers focused on improving and ensuring the health of their crops against fungal pathogens.
